Cartoonist’s Commentary:
Some might wonder why I went this direction with pneumatic meatloaf cannons and other goofy stuff instead of the group using guns and the like as per the original Half-Life game. Well to be clear, it’s NOT out of any anti-gun bias or anything like that (I fully support private gun ownership and I love to shoot). For one, I’m trying more for humor than cool action scenes or bloodily-dispatched aliens. But I also wanted to see what I could do with the story without guns being available… after all, the reality is that most of us who work in an office (even in the US) do so without being armed. Some smart person said something to the effect of “in the hands of a skilled practitioner, the more restrictions one has in a project, the more elegant the design”. While I believe it was said in the context of permaculture, I think it applies to most things. I’m not a highly skilled cartoonist by any stretch, but the only way one improves is to try new things and keep pushing one’s limits…
