Yeah, I just couldn’t resist weighing in a little on the Captain Marvel movie. It seems the movie’s gross sales has now passed the $1 billion mark globally, and while I’m happy for the people who made the movie I confess I thought it was somewhat mediocre for a Marvel movie (especially compared to most of the recent ones). A lot better than Thor: The Dark World or Iron Man 2, but certainly not at the same level of Avengers: Infinity War or Thor: Ragnarok. I suppose at least part of the movie’s success is that female heroines are not always common (even today), so if that’s the case I can understand some of its box office pull.

But what really puzzles me is what all the haters of the movie were all butt-hurt about. My understanding is that the director(s) once made a comment about it being a movie with a SJW (Social Justice Warrior) theme, and I guess that set off some weird macho nerd-rage with some people. While I personally find much of the typical SJW agenda (while perhaps well-intentioned) to be suffering under certain false assumptions, it’s not worth getting bent out of shape over. And letting other people’s political views dictate what movies or things you like or don’t like seems totally absurd to me.

Eh, sometimes I think I’d be better off living on a different planet than 90% of the people I share this one with. 🙄
