The character Ash is the stereotypical introverted “absent-minded professor” of the group…. long on book smarts, short on social skills and awareness of what’s going on in the wider world. He’s also the type to get really interested in some unique project or area of knowledge, only to put it aside and move on when something new catches his attention. So getting interested in and acquiring bitcoin only to later space it out for six or seven years would be par for the course for him.

You might ask how he’s storing that bitcoin for all these years…. paper wallet, of course!
