Cartoonist’s Commentary:
This Halloween strip was the first webcomic I published in color. While I’ve made small tweaks with hair and skin tone since then, I’ve largely been happy with the first attempt. It did take some extra time at first (which is why I didn’t permanently move to color strips until a couple months later), but with some practice I found the groove that allowed me to do it more efficiently.
I’m not huge into wearing costumes on Halloween, but one of the few costumes I ever wanted to try was the ‘D-Fens’ outfit from ‘Falling Down’ at the defense contractor where I worked. But between having to color all my hair grey, having to wear glasses and a tie all day, and especially the possibility some hyper-politically-correct nitwit (and there were several) would read too much into it and report it to security, I ultimately decided against it. I suppose it’s a bit of a lost opportunity, but then again there will be no shortage of other opportunities to make people laugh or feel slightly uncomfortable. 😉
