Cartoonist’s Commentary:
Yet another reference to the Iceland-UK “Cod Wars” by Ash’s father. I’ve been fascinated for a long time about how Iceland has such a minimal military presence… just a small Coast Guard and an even smaller special crisis response unit, and no standing army as far as I’m aware. Coming from America where admittedly the military size and spending is at an insane level, it’s quite a refreshing contrast. Anyway, given many of the confrontations during that time involved taunting and throwing things at the other boats, I find it hard to believe that neither side mooned the other during any of those incidents. In the highly unlikely chance that I have readers from Iceland who were alive and there at that time, please speak up and give us the real deal of what it was like…
